De Amerikaanse hiphop supergroep Wu-Tang Clan is weer helemaal terug en komt naar Gent met 'The Rebirth Tour 2011'. De groep zal compleet met de clanleden GZA (Genius), Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Raekwon, U-God, Masta Killa en Inspectah Deck op het podium te zien zijn. In Europa scoorde Wu-Tang Clan hits met de nummers 'Gravel Pit', ‘C.R.E.A.M.’ en 'Say What You Want (All Day, Every Day)'.Sinds de Wu-Tang Clan in 1993 met het debuutalbum 'Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)' de hiphop herdefinieerde, staat de supergroep van RZA en zijn discipelen alweer 15 jaar aan de absolute top. De plaat wordt algemeen beschouwd als één van de beste hiphopalbums ooit, waarbij de unieke sound van laidback flows in combinatie met RZA's zware, onheilspellende beats en soulsamples een herkenbare blueprint voor jaren '90 hardcore hiphop creëerde.Wu-Tang Clan is in feite een losvast collectief van 9 MC’s dat een lawine aan nevenprojecten genereerde. Met leden als Method Man, de in 2004 overleden Ol' Dirty Bastard, Raekwon en Ghostface Killah bleek de groep hiphopsterren in spé te herbergen. Het op 29 juni geplande optreden maakt deel uit van de Rebirth Tour 2011. We zijn bijzonder trots om dé pioniers van old school jaren ’90 hiphop te mogen verwelkomen!In 2009 kwam Method Man samen met Redman al eens richting Gent. What makes people think he is a member of Wu-Tang Clan, is the fact that he had his own photography alongside the other members' in the booklet of the group's third album, "The W". He actually rapped on two tracks of this album.There are also a number of affiliated groups and artists, typically produced by The RZA, and other Wu-Tang producers such as 4th Disciple, True Master, and Allah Mathematics.
