Archipel is a collective of musicians and designers in question to unite their skills in achieving new creative projects. As a label, Archipel release music on CD, 12" and mp3, with songs made from a collective library of sounds. By forcing musicians to think again of their own music production routine, we hope to see emerge music with it's own identity
Archipel is also about clothing and CD sleeve design. All CD releases are limited because of the original design behind them.
Can I send you a demo?
Demo submissions are currently possible. However, there's a strict guideline and demos not respecting them won't be listened nor replied.
* Music has to fit the label's style. Please visit our mp3 section for examples.
* Please explain us what your demo is about, its concept and what it means to you. We're interested in something with depth, not just a bunch of tracks put together.
* Provide a link to your Myspace page or equivalent. Make sure you have a bio.
* Do not send mp3s in attachment.
* Email links to your music in mp3, 320 kbps, named with your artist name + title, zipped.
* 3 tracks only will do.
* Use yousendit or sendspace only.
What style is Archipel?
We like everything: Experimental, IDM, Ambient, minimal, dub, tech house. Originality is our motto.
We do not support world beat, trance, psy-trance, trance, vocal house or acoustics.Can you release my music on 12" or CD format too?
No. We only release material on physical format from established Archipel artists.
You guys used to give Sample packs, where are they?
GONE!
Honestly, we received so many demos with them that sounded all the same that we got really fed up. We decided to take down the packs and not distribute them. However if you really want them, with a bit of work, you'll find them sitting on the web ;-)
Can I remix your free music?
Our music works with the Creative Common licenses and as explained, people are allowed to play with the music as long as it's not for commercial use. If there's a release to be made, we ask you kindly to refer to the original artist and label in your credits.
It would also be polite to contact us and the artist prior to the release, if there's any. We reserve the right to refuse the music to be released.
I'm a (DJ, Radio Station, Media, Journalist) and would like some promos. How can we make this happen?
We're always building our database of Medias based on support they can give us. If you would like to support or label, we would appreciated you contact us with a brief bio and links of your works.
It is possible that we give you promos, please let us know how you support back ;-)
What happened to the netlabel? Why some releases not for free anymore?
Old Netreleases are there for free, this has not changed and won't in the future become commercial. Newer Net releases are first offered on sale on Beatport, Archipel's Mp3 shop and Kompakt. After 2-3 months (depending of the agreement we have with the artist), we will give it for free.
Why?
We realised there's a strong DJ market for mp3 and it is a form of distribution that is also excellent promo. DJ's that have some bookings are always interested in having the freshest tunes so we deliver them music for their needs. Since most of them get a salary out of playing the tracks, we're happy to redistribute the money to our artists that worked very hard.
Your little sum is a symbolic way of encouraging the people who make the music you love. Believe us, they really appreciate it.
