DEMOCRAZY & AFTER 12 join forces for another dubstep party.
This time we are back at our previous location the "Minus One" in Ghent, with a fresh new line up.

GEMMY (UK)

They don’t call Bristol the “second city of dubstep” for nothing. Its wealth of talented producers are currently pushing the boundaries of a genre that is rapidly developing in all sorts of directions, with Gemmel “Gemmy” Phillips leading the front line of its latest wave. Alongside his purple compadres Joker and Guido, the three are pushing a majestically colourful take on the sub-heavy sound of today, sculpting their own unique sound that marks them out from pretty much anyone in the scene. Gemmy’s musical journey started with his love of hip-hop, before being taken aback by the inventiveness and pure dancefloor power of grime, UK garage and drum’n’bass. After picking up turntables and getting to grips with the kaleidoscope of sound being thrust onto his ears, Gemmy took the next natural step and started to create his own beats, refusing to be tied to any genre. Determined to carve out his own sonic niche, Gemmy began to mesh together the two great loves of his childhood—the swaggering G-funk beats of Dr. Dre, and the clean and colourful melodies of 16-bit console classics like Sonic The Hedgehog—with some additional low-end histrionics for maximum dance floor impact. The burgeoning dubstep scene in his home city certainly had its influence, and keen to get his sound out to a wider audience, he began to give his tracks out to respected artists and DJs in the local community. The strength of his material certainly stood out, with dubplates of his tracks flying out of the local cutting emporium by eager DJs looking to destroy Bristol’s dance floors with his undeniably infectious and rabble rousing compositions. With its screeching lead synth and undulating bass riff, "Bk 2 The Future" emerged as both a crowd and selectors' favourite, showing a producer who possessed the uncommon trait of knowing how to wobble with measure and restraint. After hearing the sub-low churn of his "Bass Transmitter" track, Punch Drunk boss Peverelist felt determined to sign both tracks to his label, with the 12-inch making a real splash on the international scene.
The success of the Punch Drunk release meant that Gemmy was quickly snatched up by Planet Mu boss Mike Paradinas to join the new wave of dubstep-related artists that have become the vanguard of the label, with the “Supligen” and “Johnny 5” releases continuing Gemmy’s rich run of form. Radio 1’s dubstep doyenne Mary Anne Hobbs has also taken the producer under her wing, signing up the delightfully wonky “Rainbow Road” to her Wild Angels compilation, further bolstering his already highly regarded position in the international bass music community. Gemmy is currently working on his debut album for Planet Mu, with plans for a release in the next few months

DJ MADD (HUN/UK)

After making his first moves in dubstep a couple of years back, Budapest born DJ Madd’s name has since been saturated within the scene. Quickly gaining support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Skream, Breakage, Joe Nice, Martyn, 2562, Ikonika and many more; his tunes can already be heard in various sets and leading dubstep radio shows around the globe.
DJ Madd’s first release ‘Numbers’ hit the world by storm, followed by a bit of undercover work under the legendary WAR imprint then a 3 track EP titled 'Better With You EP' on Boka records and another two tunes forthcoming, “Homeland” and “Koopa” available on 3.5 Records, with future release on Boka, Subway Records, Tube 10, Black Box and war.
With his arsenal of tunes released and unreleased, DJ Madd has been touring and DJing over multiple genres, also as an established Drum and Bass figure he has had years perfecting his DJ sets to help share his sound at it’s very best for every event.

VON-D (FR)

Von–D, Born into the multi cultural melting pot of the Paris suburbs, a young Von–D found his soul’s conduit in a beat up drum kit. While the riddims of King Tubby fused and morphed into the foetal jungle of Photek, Serge Gainsbourg issued instructions from the radio.
A fusion chef of bassweight, Von D deftly slices into unpredictable genres, concocting strange and beautiful new forms. After forging a professional path as a sound engineer, Von D has honed his sound sculpting skills to a razor sharp edge.
With no sign of slowing down, Von D’s immense production has seen his music picked up by the dubstep scene’s number one artist Skream, securing a Von D release for his label Disfigured Dubs and with a highly regarded releases on Argon (including a hotly anticipated forthcoming album), Black Acre and Chef’s Subfreq imprint under his belt. Von D’s music has also been commissioned for two of one of the scenes leading mix CD’s including the 7th volume of ‘Tempas' Records, 'Dubstep Allstars’ mixed by ‘Chef’ & ‘Ramadanman’ which features Show me – ‘Mr Lager’ ft ‘Alyz be’ – [Tell Von D Remix] and ‘Skreams’ remix of Von D’s ‘Show Me’ and 'Soul Jazz' records acclaimed 'Steppas Delight 2' with 'Von D's — Show Me' featuring 'Phephe'.
Not content with producing some of the scenes freshest music, Dubstep founders like Skream & Tes La Rok have dropped their own flavor on his music by remixing Von D’s tracks “Show Me” & “Truth” respectively.
Far from the shy studio type, Von D has also created a global buzz with his numerous explosive live performances thought out Europe the far flung reaches of China. Von D rocking a dancehall near you soon. Whether his music either is on wax or played out in front of you he is not to be missed!
