12/02/2011 - Hertz : Oldschool & Acid Techno @ Petrol, Antwerp
« on: November 12, 2010, 06:51:48 PM »
Techno rebels! After the succes of our first techno edition 2 months ago, we decided to treat you all with a 2nd night of oldschool techno drums and acid loops. Since the 12th of February is a special date for us, we wanted to give you a special line up.

As you know Dj Redhead (Mb Elektronics, Red factory) became our resident and will join us on every line up from now on! For this edition he will joined by some of the finest techno producers from Europe, who will bring you some special sets for this night...

.. :: LINE UP :: ..

.. :: // SPACE DJz // :: ..
(50 Hz, Contact booking // Uk)

“Techno is always changing and moving”

in 1988, Ben linked up with old friend Jamie Bissmire. The two urban Londoners had already been avid record collectors, and they began experimenting on turntables, and in the studio. The Space DJ'z were born. There are few dj's and producers in the modern techno world who can truly claim to have pioneered a style and sound, and call it their own. Such statements are often declared, but rarely justified. In the case of Ben Long and Jamie Bissmire, the names behind the revered Space DJz this claim would be unarguable.

The Space Djz have been renowned the world over for their breathtaking skillz behind the deckz. Whether working as a team or individually, Ben and Jamie consistently deliver astounding performances...

Dj' ing to them is an art, and with over ten years on the world dj circuit they have the knowledge and experience to rock any party right ...

.. :: // BEN LONG VS JAMIE BISSMIRE // :: ..

(50 Hz, Contact booking // Uk)
(oldschool techno set)

Within the techno genre, many claim to have been influenced by the now heavily commercialised hip hop movement. For Ben Long, one half of London 's infamous and influential Space DJ'z, this statement comes from within. When commercialism finally set about popularising hip hop to the masses, Ben turned his focus towards the familiar beats and bass of techno to satisfy his love of electronic music.

From one of the UK's leading dj's, producers and exponents of techno music Jamie Bissmire has pretty much done it all. As one third of Bandulu he has inspired a plethora of international artistes to take up the production baton and live audiences to lose their collective marbles on the dancefloor.

On vinyl, on the decks or on patrol. Whatever it takes, Jamie Bissmire's on a musical mission and we're just trying to keep up.

.. :: // SPIROS KALOUMENOS // :: ..
(Focus, Patterns, EAGER Vibe // Greece)
(oldschool techno set)

“Spiros lives & breathes techno …”

At an early age he discovered that music was more than just a hobby …. This love showed him the way of his future !

As a dj, ... a sure crowd pleaser... his set includes a combination of the newest forms of techno blended with unique mixing style! The passion to create his own sound forced him to music production. In this way , he had the support of a main player like Marco Bailey, and later became key member to MB group of labels. Nowadays his music & dj set’s rocks the dancefloors worldwide. Always faithful and focused to the techno sound this artist keeps spreading his music all over the world and the same is expected for the future !!

.. :: // D.D.R. // :: ..
(Stay Up Forever // Uk)

As a twelve year veteran of the London underground dance scene, Dave has unleashed his own brand of techno on many labels and at many parties, raves, clubs and festivals around the globe. Being a central player on the Uk free party sound system scene, DDR could be found running rig's at parties and festivals in the early nineties. Following on from this, it was not long before he was bringing his fledgling studio out to these events to play music to the masses directly from the machines.

More recently DDR has been involved in the construction of the vinyl mastering facility for Kinetec Mastering, continues to produce for all of his favorite labels and spends much of his time in the States where he can be caught bringing the sound of the London acid techno underground.

.. :: // REDHEAD // :: ..

(Mb Electroniks, Red Factory // Be)

Being one of the best and most talented techno dj's and producers from Belgium, we're thrilled to have this guy as our resident. On the first edition of HERTZ, Steve played a fat set together with Marco Bailey, and now will once again blow your mind with some raw and banging techno tunes.

.. :: // DOUBLE U JAY // :: ..
(I Love Techno, City Parade, Basik // Be)

“For the love of the music... the true techno vibe will survive”

Keeping the true techno vibe alive, that’s what Double U Jay is all about. He was immediately fascinated by this versatile genre. It intrigued him how techno can be powerful, deep, soulful, funky, pumping, driving, melodic, dark.... all at the same time. This diversity is also easily spotted in his sets, combining housy Detroit sounds with funky tribal and hardgroove. A wide selection of tracks combined with old school skills (3 deck mixing, effects, juggling, scratching,...) make up for an energetic live performance.

Double U Jay was selected by Dave Clarke to open his Red Room at I Love Techno 2008. Dave Clarke picked him out of all the contestants of the White Noise contest, stating that “his mix told a story and he deserved it”.

His main goal : Respecting the true techno vibe - quality electronic music that unites people, entertain them as a dj and educate them at the same time.
