Antwerp non profit project for releasing music and spreading progressive art vibes. The label works as a platform for new artists. The releases combine upcoming talent with established artists to create attractive original compilations with an open view on electronic (dance)music.
The releases are limited in edition and have original artwork by Belgian graphic artists.

Hello Monkeys!

It has been quiet around Unfinished Monkey Records for a while as artistic director Christoffel Hendrickx aka dustrickx went on a three year retreat into yoga ashrams in New Zealand and Australia.From all this time for meditation and rejuvenation came the idea for another Unfinished Monkeys compilation!

We are now collecting tracks for UMR005 SADHANA - the journey OM, which will collect tracks inspired by some sort of yogic vision. Don't think this means you have to be in a lotus pose or doing stretches, music as such is a yogic practice. Yoga is the science of the soul, the idea of union with 'the bigger picture', the essence of all spirituality and esoteric science.

We wish you the best of luck and feel free to contact us for more info or to collaborate with one of our resident artists on your track! All the practicalities on track submission are below.

UMR 005 - track submission information

-> Make sure your track is somehow related to or inspired by the following topics:

meditation, yoga, India, Kirtan, Mantra, Sanskrit, the soul, the spirit, relaxation, the body as a vessel of energy, singing/music as a healing practice, tantra, vedanta, samkhya, upanishads, sutras, vedas, buddhism, hinduism, religion vs spirituality, selfless service, sainthood, pilgrimage, temple, shrine, deities,asana, breathing, bandha, purification,yama and niyama, ....

and is high quality electronic, electro-accoustic or instrumental production. Any genre can do but crossover and threshold material gets our preference, think dubstyled electronix with classical vocals or jazzy instrumentals with electroid beats and so on.

-> Make sure your track is no shorter than 30secs. and no longer than 10min.

-> Send your pre-mastered (don't finalize your mastering, leave some headroom for the final finish for the compilation) track as a downloadable .wav file to unfinished.monkey.records@gmail.com before 31/08/2016

-> send a short bio and full track title and info to the same address.

-> keep your track exclusive, make sure it is not downloadable on soundcloud or similar platforms.

-> check your e-mail for our reply after +/- two weeks. If your track gets selected we will further inquire for needed info and send you details on the copyright and publication contract.
ALL FINANCIAL GAIN OF THE RELEASES GOES BACK TO THE ARTISTS ONCE PRODUCTION COSTS HAVE BEEN COVERED.

We are open for demo's for digital ep's and plan to release 4 midtempo (no core) releases before 2018 so get in touch. New big compilation will feature in 2018.

UMR financial agreement info:

UMR works as a creative non profit format. There is no official business structure. Our production system is transparent and all business details are open to the public. The purpose of UMR is to promote artists and release original music.
Because we believe in the value of electronic music we don't distribute the releases for free. This helps to pay for professional expenses like mastering and artwork and this also gives an opportunity for the producers to have some income of their work.

We work with a year to year overview of income as registered by Symphonic Distribution and based on this overview me make a direct payment through PayPal to the artist of any excess revenue. By excess revenue we mean: income of the release minus expenses of the release (mastering/artwork if expenses made) equals excess revenue.   

Other expenses like domain, administrative, transport, communications, ... are all donated by the 'private face' behind UMR being Christoffel Hendrickx aka dustrickx who works selflessly to make UMR into what it is today.
The hard work of other people involved like art worker Arn Gyssels and sound engineer Rob Kanters also helps to minimise expenses and make it affordable to release professional material from the underbelly of the electronic music scene.
