Roland AIRA Series Offers Classic Sound + Modern Features

Today, Roland officially announced its new series of AIRA products:

    The AIRA TR-8 Rhythm Performer – a $499 drum machine;
    The AIRA TB-3 Touch Bassline – a $299 bassline synth;
    The AIRA VT-3 Voice Transformer – a $199 vocal effects processor and vocoder; and
    The AIRA System-1 Plug-Out Synthesizer – a $599 virtual analog synthesizer that can transform into a variety of classic synth, and act as a hardware controller for a new line of software synthesizers.

The AIRA series is based on Roland’s newly-developed Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) which the company says faithfully captures the sound of some of Roland’s most revered classics. In developing the AIRA line, Roland modeled classic circuits, using original design specs, consultation with original product engineers, and a detailed part-by-part analysis of each analog circuit, using pristinely-archived Roland drum machines and synthesizers.

We got a sneak preview of the Roland AIRA line at the 2014 NAMM Show. The line is hands on, appears to be solidly built and is priced surprisingly competitively. These aren’t purist recreations, but they are not stripped-down knockoffs, either.

een x0xb0x met een x0xlarge cpu uitbreiding die het n0nx0x OS draait.


n0nx0x is de enige clone OS die de originele 303 sequencer kloont.. al de rest zijn in feite (qua sequencing) Rebirth clones (ook de TT303 en TB3)

De originele makers van de x0xb0x:

The sequencer can be programmed just like the original 303 (ok its actually a little easier, we think)

de realiteit is dat het vrij beperkt is en er toch wat bugs in zitten mbt sync. je kan er ook dingen mee die heel on-303 zijn (waardoor sommigen dan zeggen, he een x0x klinkt niet als een 303)
n0nx0x is zo exact mogelijk de volledige functionaliteit (time mode, pitch mode, tap write, track mode, ...) van de originele 303 sequencer, met extra features (realtime record, pattern manipulators) en bugfixes mbt sync.

Voor de een of andere reden was ik redelijk onderwelmt door die TB3 toen ik videoreview zag van Sonicstate. Bon, voor die prijs natuurlijk.
